D421
Dinky 421 Hindle-Smart Electric Articulated Lorry 'British Railways'. Very near mint/boxed. From a beautiful, single-owner collection, some 25 years in the making.
Notes
This collector wanted only the best examples in his collection – painstakingly upgrading until he had the best examples he could find. After over 25 years, he has now decided to part with items from his own extensive collection.
This is one of them.
Issued between 1955-59, this lorry has a day-one bright, maroon paint finish and a perfect ‘British Railways’ label on the cab front (note the tiny stray portion of additional transfer nearby).
An outstanding fresh original high lustre.
Brightest baseplate/metal parts too.
Small mark at the back of the cab and a little casting mark nearby. A few raised casting dots on the roof. A little box rub at the front wheel arches and the occasional mere dot besides. Left in one position for a long time, one of the smooth original tyres has a flat spot.
The yellow picture box is outstanding! One of the best we have seen (ludicrously crisp and vivid!). Hard to believe this box is some 55 or so years old.
