D980
Dinky 980 Horse Van. Near mint plus/boxed with BOTH CARD PACKING PIECES. Scarce U.S. issue. From a large, stunning diverse collection with many items in old shop stock condition.
Notes
From one of the largest, private collections we have ever seen, with many items bought new at the time and stored away until now. Taken as a whole, the collection provides an exciting, kaleidoscopic snapshot of popular diecast toys issued during the 1960?s -1970?s.
This scarce model is cast in aluminium and has the wording “EXPRESS HORSE VAN” “HIRE SERVICE” on both sides and “EXPRESS” above the cab windows.
Just the occasional little mark may be seen under close scrutiny. The maroon paint finish has a fine lustrous finish, showing that this model has been carefully stored and rarely handled. Lettering is in fine condition throughout save for one negligible light scratch.
None of the usual rubbing or chipping at the raised roof detail. Fine original tyres. A little dulling at two wheel axle ends. A little casting mark at the lower edge of one of the ‘window’ frames at the side.
The correctly labelled “HORSE VAN” box has the address of the “Hudson Dobson” importer at one side. The box looks extremely fresh, bright and clean with no splits. Period shop label at one lid end and a neat period penned price at the other. The deep blue base has such vibrant colours and the lid too looks really vibrant too! A little rusting at the staples now. Tiny wear besides. Both card packing pieces are notably still present too.
Giving the appearance of unsold shop stock.
