D943
Dinky 943 Leyland Octopus Tanker-ESSO. Very near mint/boxed. An all-original, high quality example from The Berlin Collection.
Notes
This model is an exceptional display piece with a vivid red paint finish throughout and diecast hubs (later issues had plastic hubs). Tinplate tank has eye-catching transfers on both sides and at rear. Complete save for a couple of the tiniest edge nicks to one.
None of the usual ‘rib’ rubs to the white background of the side transfers either.
Very fine indeed with day-one vibrant colours.
Shiny baseplate and metal parts generally, save for minor tarnishing to the axle ends. Original black radial tyres are well-shaped.
Mere dot at a wheel arch or two and a very small tow hook mark. Little raised casting dot or two on the roof. Couple of little raised body line detail marks. Very minor ’crazing ’ to the paint finish on the tanker, visible only if examined closely under strong light. Very minor.
A refreshing example with none of the touch-ins so prevalent with high value Dinky commercials nowadays.
The striped pictorial box is a fitting partner with vibrant colours on clean, day-one fresh undamaged card. Very minor wear only. An impressive example.
