C801
Corgi 801 Noddy, Big Ears and Golly (grey-faced) Car. Very near mint/boxed. From 'The New European' Collection.
Notes
Issued during 1969 with a black-faced Golly, this is the second issue where the colour was changed to a lighter grey colour, in response to racial concerns. Later still, the Golly would have a pink or light tan face and then eventually be replaced with the uncontroversial Mr.Tubby!
This example is in very close to perfect condition. A most attractive item, with all three figures of Noddy, Big Ears and Golly crammed into a bright red and yellow ‘cartoon’ car with balloon tyres! Dished wheels.
Paintwork is vivid and in tip-top condition. A few little chrome rubs.
Window box is dated 1969 on the reverse. The bright, crisp, pictorial inner has a little tear along one of the serrated sections. Often the card gets damaged by Noddy’s bobble hat – happy to say that it is not the case here!
The colourfully-illustrated outer box is bright, fresh and complete, with original cellophane. Very small puncture.
Little tear emanating from an end flap.
