C230
Corgi 230 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Coupe. Colour trial in DEEP GREEN. Excellent plus/not boxed. Probably one of only a handful or even a unique piece from The 'Monty Calme' Corgi Collection.
Notes
The Monty Calme landmark Corgi Collection, covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.
Monty says:
“This colour trial Mercedes was part of a small batch of models I bought from an ex-employee of Corgi many years ago”.
Issued in several colours, this is probably the only survivor in rich deep green. A colour trial sample piece from 1961-62 that never made the cut. A shame – this model presents well. Lemon interior, intact bonnet emblem, opening boot, shaped spun wheels, grey rivetted base. Note the tiny (always reassuring) minute fleck of factory paint immediately around the rivet.
Several little marks to the model which is not surprising since this item is over 50 years old and has never been boxed.
