Dinky 501
Dinky 501 Foden Diesel 8-Wheel Wagon. Excellent plus/boxed. 1st type in deep blue & black, silver flash. Correct factory stamp at lid end. 1947-48. Scarce! From The Cumbrian Collection.
Notes
An early classic Foden model – and a difficult find in this deep blue finish with a black chassis and silver flash. An early issue, so correct without a tow hook or tank slits on the underside and correctly presented in the first buff box with a paper label.
20mph sign in place on a rear wheel arch. Well-shaped, original herringbone tyres.
Baseplate is generally bright.
The usual little rubs at the side raised details (tiny dots) and a few marks in the expected places (wheel arches, principally). There are a few small dabs of retouching on the cab roof edge and a couple besides.
The early buff card box has a vivid and complete paper label. A little wear only (no more than commensurate with age). Nice to see the factory ‘B’ stamp denoting colour of contents at a lid end. Period price nearby.
