Notes
Issued between 1957-60, this is an all original example in vibrant metallic mid-blue with flat spun wheels and a difficult find with a grey baseplate.
The base is undoubtedly genuine and it even has the tell-tale trace of metallic blue around 2 of the rivets. It is contemporary with other late issue mechanicals. Grey base paint appears to be a 1960 feature. It cannot be a coincidence that the only 3 models that ran in to 1960 are the Thunderbird, Austin and this one. All other models terminating in 1959 have black bases.
Working fly wheel motor.
Such a lovely example, looking completely unused.
Couple of small as-made paint bubbles on the roof – and that’s about it. Gives the impression of unsold, old shop stock.
The early powder blue box is bright and clean example. Crisp. Colour promotional booklet is fresh and vivid.
