Acknowledged in ‘The Great Book Of Dinky Toys’, this collector in the U.S. brings his 37 year collection to QDT. Included are some very rare items and a wealth of period literature and catalogues.
An attractive sign with wooden "DINKY TOYS’ lettering fixed atop a red coloured panel within a grey metal frame. ‘MADE BY MECCANO LTD.’ in yellow print (which would illuminate, unchecked). Pressed steel fitting. Sign measures approx. 40 cms x 8cms x 14.5 cms.
3 appropriate bulbs are included.
Barely any wear. No sign of rust or chips.
“Featured in Dinky Toys Sales Aids for Dealers from 1957. Interior electrical bay includes original wiring. Originally, this sign was acquired from a shop owner who was closing his business. This sign was actually the second that was sent to him back in the day (due to invoice error). Never returned, it simply remained in his stock room unused”.
A dramatic period display piece that may be suspended or simply placed on a shelf.
