Notes
Dated October 1934 (Dinky print on a lid end), this is a rare survivor indeed! 14 grey waterline ships and submarines in unused condition, still tied to the blue card interior with printed ship names beneath each one.
One of the best surviving examples:
Close inspection will find minor fatigue to some models. Due to the alloys used at the time, this is a very common sight with pre-war Dinky models. In our experience, items well-stored (out of dramatic temperature fluctuations), do not deteriorate further.
Each one is complete.
The box lower is in close to pristine state with the drop-down front section barely opened in the past 80 or so years!
The colourfully illustrated lift-off lid in blue has a complete paper label. Obviously stored out of light, the colours are strong and the card shows only light surface grubbiness. A couple of tiny tears to the small paper label at a lid end. No repairs or splits to this rather wonderful box!
Capturing an era that has gone so many decades ago. A poignant reminder of this time.
