Notes
“In the late 1960s for a very short period of time Mercury toys were painted and assembled in Arica Chile for domestic consumption. These toys often had differences from the standard Italian models, odd variations in colours, shades & details; they are without question the rarest of all Mercury toys".
This Chilean version of the Mercury Ferrari model is finished in deep red (unlike the standard issue which is a lighter shade of red), intact racing numbers ‘186’, undamaged windscreen, blue plastic driver (and unlike the standard issue, the driver’s helmet is unpainted), jewelled lights (and unlike the standard version, the light recess is body colour not silver). Detailed cast wheels are finished in gold (unique to the Chilean version). Metal base is unpainted. Screwed base.
Opening boot with spare wheel. Silver rear light detail and number plate.
Few small marks away from mint.
Lovely, colourfully illustrated card box is clean, fresh and bright. Light wear. Note the Chilean stamp “ARMADO EN ARICA” on an end flap and on one non-picture side:
