Dinky Toys 290
Dinky 290 Double Deck Bus 'DUNLOP'. Excellent/unboxed. From a collector in Berlin. Scarce promotional issue in ALL-CREAM, made for the German market representing the Berlin Bus. A First for QDT! Starting bid £100. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
With a type 3 Leyland grille, this classic Dinky bus presents well with a striking all-cream paint finish, red, cast wheels and treaded tyres. ‘Dunlop – The World’s Master Tyre’ lettering is close to perfect on both sides:
Brief inspection suggests that the model is near mint, although a closer look especially with magnification, shows some retouches and extra sweeps of paint.
An intriguing Dinky Bus – and a first for us. Rare to come to the market-place, this most mosrt unusal Dinky toy bus was apparently made as a very short run for the German market in all-cream (Berlin). Little appears to be known about this particular variation and only a very few have appeared over the years. WE remain intrigued and welcome further information from collectors, of course!
