Dinky Toys 555 Fire Engine
Fire Engine with Extending Ladder by Dinky Toys, No. 555. Near mint plus/boxed. Early copper tension grips on the ladders & often missing card packing piece! Fine early box! From The Fenman Collection.
Notes
The early issue of this classic Dinky toy made between 1952-54. In all original condition, this Commer Fire Engine has a bright red finish (no sunfading!) with a silver extending ladder and both shining bells on the roof.
Couple of small front bumper chips and a tiny mark or two besides. Well-shaped grey tyres (minus the yellowing which can often occur over time). The silver ladders presents well (often found with significant marking, Happily not so, in this case).
Note that this example has copper tension fixing which hold the ladders in place when extended – good design point!
With card packing piece too.
The early blue Dinky Toys box is a fitting partner with strong colours on bright fresh and intact card. No fading and that includes the portion at the sides not covered by the lid. Complete, clean and bright paper label too. Faint pen mark and a period price penned on a short lid end.
