Notes
A truly eye-catching period display piece to entrance those little boys and girls (and parents we are sure) into spending their pocket-money on a Matchbox 1-75 model, back in 1965.
The colours on this illuminated sign are day-one vivid with the familiar ‘Matchbox colours’ of red, blue and yellow.
The sign measures approx. 61 cms x 19.5 cm and is composed of semi-rigid opaque plastic, with rigid plastic front. Moulded informative print ‘Ref No. 18, Made in England’ on reverse. Original wiring, although replacement plug and bulbs now. Original bulb holders. Working illumination. Original chain, so this sign could be suspended over an enticing display of all the latest 1-75 Regular wheels Matchbox models back in the day. Featured on the sign is just such a model ie. Matchbox No. 5 Routemaster Bus!
There are a few very small splits to the sign but the two parts fit together well and these minor splits are not really visible on display. Note too that there is also a transparent plastic stand which gives the flexibility of allowing this sign to be placed on a shelf, so can be free-standing, too.
