Notes
The first we have offered for sale in a long while.
This precious early Dinky Gift Set was issued 1937-41 and is a particularly difficult find.
This set comprises:
1) 12a GPO Pillar Box, in red with a white panel and yellow ’POST OFFICE" sign on top. A little chipping and tiny crazing.
2) 12b Air Mail Pillar Box, in blue with white panel. No fatigue as far as we can tell . Few minor marks to the paint finish.
3) 12c Telephone Call Box, in cream, silver and red. Light crazing and minor paint marking.
4) 12d Telegraph Messenger in deep blue. Very minor marking only.
5) 12e Postman in deep blue with brown postal bag. Couple of little chips to the front edge of the base.
6) 34b Royal Mail Van. Earliest issue in red and black with open rear windows. Smooth black hubs. Some scattered chipping commensurate with the age a minor crazing line and smooth white tyres (a little age wear).
Deep yellow insert presents well with strong colours on fresh-looking card.
Slim lift-off lidd blue box is a pleasing example with no seam splits or repairs. Few water stains and light wear. Period penned writing on the lid.
