Notes
Issued between 1961-62, this Aston Martin DB 4 has an appealing glossy scarlet red finish and suspension on all four shiny flat spun wheels. Open vent on the bonnet (later a closed vent was introduced).
Most unusually , this model has been issued without an interior.
The owner whose parents ran a toy shop back in the day kept this model believing it to be a factory error. However, it is our belief that this was part of a small sample run or a colour trial piece. We note too that this model is slightly heavier (around 20% heavier) than the standard issue.
Couple of small touch-ins visible after much scrutiny.
Corgi 218 Aston Martin was the first model produced by Corgi with an opening bonnet. We surmise that this model without an interior may have been distributed to some shops to gauge the reaction?
See ‘THE GREAT BOOK OF CORGI’ page 87.
The box is complete and bright. Crisp. Shows light handling.
