Dinky Toys 943 Leyland Octopus Tanker ESSO

Notes

This model makes a pleasing display piece with a vivid red paint finish throughout and note that this is the later issue with red plastic wheels. Tinplate tank has transfers on both sides and at rear. No dents in the tanker. The lettering at the sides is very nearly complete and note the usual little rubs to some of the cream raised ribs (always vulnerable). The rear transfer is virtually complete.

Baseplate is shiny and the black original radial tyres are well-shaped. A little ‘crazing’ to a couple. Spare included. Rivet fixing.
Tow hook is rather bent.

Closest scrutiny reveals some subtle touch-ins to the front bumper.
The striped pictorial box with italicised print is complete and bright. Minor wear and a corner crumple.
