Notes
Always a sought-after Corgi toy, this James Bond Aston Martin is a first issue casting (production run 1965-69). Note the indicator light casting and double side vent present on this early issue.
Please see our Blog on Corgi 261 models:
This exciting and iconic car is in all original condition with none of the reproduction accessories, rife with this issue.
The car is fully functioning, complete with both figures. This James Bond Aston Martin has a very close to mint, all original, glossy gold finish.
Suspension. Fine tread original tyres are well-shaped.
Occasional small mark/dot. Roof does not close absolutely flush (often the case but fully functioning).
The 2nd issue card plinth (i.e. with arrow on the red section where the model is placed) is complete and brightly-coloured. Small scuff.
Reverse view:
The Instruction Packet has been carefully opened and inside you will find the badge, Instruction Leaflet and two spare villains, not including the villain seated in the car.
Secret Instructions Leaflet (detail the retractable machine guns, opening roof and ejector seat, rear bullet screen and telescopic over-riders).
Additional promotional colour booklet available with some issues: MODEL CAR MAKERS TO JAMES BOND. Fresh, clean and bright.
The 1st issue outer box is very nice indeed. Complete, fresh and bright, with a pleasing silky feel to the barely handled card. Note that since it is 1st issue, there is no shading detail around the lettering ASTON MARTIN DB5 on the box face and no thick black border around the JAMES BOND’S lettering, either.
Associated period items included:
1966 colour promotional Corgi Catalogue with Corgi 261 James Bond’s Aston Martin featured on the cover and also inside. No tears or graffiti, this is an attractive accompaniment to the most iconic Corgi toy!
Available at the time from your Corgi shopkeeper was the very scarce & very handy Spares Accessory Packet (S679).
Tear-free, and opened carefully, this packet contains two spare villains and a Special Agent Badge.
