Notes
A delightful piece of Dinky history! Here we have an original shopkeeper’s Dinky Trade box containing just 2 Hudson Commodore models. Before these models were individually boxed, this is how they would have been sent to the shops – all ready to be popped in a paper bag by the shopkeeper.
These impressive cars came in several different colour finishes and were issued between 1950-54, although they were later renumbered 171.
Cream and maroon version. Very near mint with a shining paint finish and none of the usual rubbing on the roof. Smaller print size on the baseplate. Maroon hubs and bright baseplate. MInute inspection finds a couple of small touch-ins.
Mid blue and tan with fawn hubs. Very near mint condition with bright baseplate bearing smaller print. One small touch-in.
The yellow trade box is sound and strongly-coloured complete with all of the dividers which would have kept the six cars separate.
Small corner edge scuff and rusty staples now (unsurprisingly). Shopkeeper’s faintly pencilled period price on a short lid end.
