Dinky Gift Set 2 Private Automobiles

Notes

For U.S., Canadian and South African markets and made between 1946-49.
It comprises:
39a – Packard. Olive green finish, with black wheels. A few small retouches, otherwise near mint.
39b – Oldsmobile. In grey finish with black wheels. Near mint.
39c – Lincoln Zephyr. Grey with black wheels. Excellent plus with a few small marks and subtle retouches. A little rough casting on one side.
39d – Buick in maroon with black wheels. Excellent plus.
39e – Chrysler. Mid-blue finish with black wheels. Excellent plus.

The cars are presented in the attractive green, blue and brown mottled display box with original pale green card insert in which the models sit. The insert is in excellent condition with minor wear and a couple of small repairs.
The box base presents well with light wear – note the drop down flap at the front of the box for display.

Original owner has penned his name on the box base underside. The lid with the distinctive design has rich colours throughout with an intact, clean and bright paper label. Note the little inked ‘Dinky Toys’ and more faint writing (from the original owner we assume). Two corners seams have been carefully repaired.
This is an attractive and scarce set which certainly presents very well.
A sound investment piece for the discerning collector.
