Notes
Issued during the early 1950’s, this is an extremely rare Minic Bus!
This Double-Decker Bus has the expected glossy red finish (albeit sunfaded on the roof), with a cream mid-line, cast metal wheels and well-shaped rubber tyres.
This is possibly the one and only promotional example for LONDON TRANSPORT ADVERTISING and has paper adverts at the sides for ‘STERADENT" & ’LONDON TRANSPORT ADVERTISING GETS THINGS MOVING’.
Note too the destination transfer at the front (incomplete) is for the address of the company 20 Cranbourne Street. Complete Cranbourne address at the rear destination label.
Also note that there are additional plain labels simply with the lettering ‘DOUBLE FRONTS’, ‘SINGLE BACKS’,‘LOWER REAR’ & ‘TARGET DISC’ showing where adverts could be potentially placed on the full size London Transport Bus.
Note too the partly obscured lettering ‘BRITISH TRANSPORT’ at the sides rather than the usual ‘LONDON TRANSPORT’ transfers.
This Bus is *uniquely neither fitted for a clockwork motor or the later friction drive. Usual wooden seating. Complete, if tarnished, radiator and headlight assembly.
Marking and wear mostly to the rear of the roof.
Surely a contender for the rarest Minic model!
