An all original example marking the changeover from the re-numbering from 582 to 982 in this scarce dual numbered box from 1955. Obviously unplayed with or indeed handled very much, this transporter gleams! A few minor marks only, this model has a few lighter patches at the sides, otherwise difficult to fault. With a pale blue finish and fawn ramps, and superb “DINKY TOYS DELIVERY SERVICE” lettering on both sides, 20 mph sign at rear. Cab is mint!
The dual-numbered striped Dinky Toys box is complete with no splits at corners. An original shopkeeper’s price is lightly pencilled on one end. Trace of old cellotape at lid ends, and originally this box would have also contained a loading ramp since this is printed on the sticker found at one short end of the lid. Later box issues which contained a loading ramp would have this information printed on the box lid face. Minor scuffs etc. at edges.
